Geotab report highlights rise in sustainable practices
Geotab has released its 2024 Sustainability and Impact Report, highlighting a significant shift in the adoption of sustainable practices driven by cost savings and efficiency gains.
The report, titled: 'Pragmatic Solutions for a Changing World,' reveals a whopping 39% increase in the uptake of Geotab's sustainability solutions over the past year.
This reflects the changing economic landscape, where businesses are recognising the financial benefits of sustainable initiatives alongside environmental considerations.
Neil Cawse, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Geotab, stated, "Sustainability can drive both cost savings and efficiency."
"When these initiatives are integrated into everyday business operations, they naturally reduce environmental impact while boosting the bottom line. It's a clear win-win—hard to oppose once you see the value."
Geotab's report also details the expansion in the use of electric vehicles connected to their telematics, which grew by 63% and covered over 700 million miles (or over 1 billion kilometres) in the past year.
One example of the financial benefits realised through sustainable practices is that of California Freight.
By incorporating idling reporting, the company reduced fuel costs by USD $50,000 per annum, allowing these funds to be reinvested into developing their own APIs for accident reporting and notification.
In another example, DB Regio, a leading transportation operator in Germany, achieved a CO2 reduction of approximately 1,400 tons and saved several hundred thousand litres of diesel annually due to the implementation of telematics.
These actions not only supported their environmental objectives but also led to significant cost savings.
Geotab is marking its 25th anniversary with a focus on delivering data-driven solutions that enhance efficiency and provide measurable environmental advantages. By streamlining operations and reducing waste, these solutions contribute to both financial and environmental sustainability.
Cawse further commented, "At Geotab, we're focused on empowering customers with data-driven solutions that translate into real-world efficiency gains. Whether it's optimising routes, minimising fuel consumption, or strategically transitioning to electric vehicles, these actions reduce operational expenses while supporting environmental goals."
The company continues to develop tools such as the Sustainability Centre, TÜV Rheinland certified Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report, EV Charge Monitoring, and EV Suitability Assessment.
These are designed to help customers achieve their sustainability objectives through practical and economically viable methods.
