IGEL unveils new service to recover from cyber attacks swiftly

Yesterday

IGEL has announced IGEL for Business Continuity, a subscription-based service designed to help organisations recover from compromised Windows endpoints due to ransomware and other cyber attacks in minutes. The announcement was made at IGEL Disrupt 24, an end user computing event held in Munich, Germany.

IGEL for Business Continuity aims to counter the increasing cost and frequency of cyber attacks. "Cyber attacks are at an all-time high, the average data breach costs companies nearly $5m, and IBM analysis indicates 90% of attacks originate at endpoint devices," said Matthias Haas, IGEL Chief Technology Officer. "That puts endpoints and organisations at risk, interrupts business operations, and drains technical and financial resources. But it doesn't have to be this way! IGEL for Business Continuity keeps employees connected and business moving forward."

The service can quickly recover Windows operating systems using the impacted hardware. It enables end users to clean boot their machines to IGEL OS via a second partition or a UD Pocket USB drive, and restores connections to Windows 365 and other software-as-a-service tools as they come back online. This approach is designed to be faster and more efficient than traditional methods, which often require IT teams to manually re-image the devices. When multiple devices are affected, the traditional, manually-intensive approach can take days, weeks, or even months to address.

"When disaster strikes, you need to act fast," said Haas. "IGEL for Business Continuity makes that quick and easy, employing the power of IGEL's Preventative Security ModelTM to restore compromised devices and increase business productivity. With just a few simple instructions, every end user can now clean boot their machines to IGEL OS and resume their work."

In addition to its utility in cyber attack recovery, IGEL for Business Continuity also supports employee productivity in situations such as extreme weather, natural disasters, fires, or floods, by enabling work-from-home capabilities. IGEL for Business Continuity is offered as an annual subscription and is available in two versions: software-only and UD Pocket. Both packages include business continuity services to establish the IGEL infrastructure and create bootable images tailored to various end-user use cases.

IGEL Technology is a German multinational software company best known for their "Next generation edge operating system" which is purpose-built for secure access to cloud workspaces such as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and/or Desktop as a Service.
