Infosys successfully delivers cloud transformation for Team Global Express

Wed, 17th Apr 2024

Infosys, the global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, has successfully completed a technology separation programme for Australian logistics firm Team Global Express. This programme executed a move of over 300 applications and 4,000 users to a sustainable and energy-efficient data centre and public cloud environment.

This news is significant as the project, despite the complexity of the logistics landscape, was delivered on time and without any operational or business disruption, demonstrating the productivity and efficiency gains achievable with a cloud-first approach within the transport and logistics sector.

The technology programme leveraged a strategic partnership between Infosys and Team Global Express, utilising established blueprints and tools from Infosys Cobalt to drive hybrid cloud-powered innovation. The team at Infosys set up a greenfield technology environment, migrating Global Express applications and services to a world-leading, sustainable data centre in concurrence with the public cloud.

Over 300 applications were successfully moved to this new environment without any business impact to its 4,000+ users or to the network integration spread over 100 sites. Modernisation of the overall technology landscape was a significant aspect of the programme, embodying a cloud-first approach into core business strategies to reduce inherited technical debt.

As part of the migration, 70% of applications were moved to the cloud, leveraging the technical benefits provided by the public cloud to establish a secure and agile foundation for future digital transformation. The strategy resulted in reduced risk, enhanced base infrastructure integrity and security posture, and significantly improved operational productivity, enhancing the overall employee experience.

Infosys managed the programme end-to-end, placing it as the lead systems integrator, propelling Team Global Express's transport and logistics business to deliver exceptional customer service. Infosys employed a 'Separate First and Transform Later' strategy to align on-time separation without any impact, thus ensuring operational stabilisation.

This successful transformation program was recognised with the 2024 ISG Paragon Award ANZ in the gold category, awarded jointly to Infosys and Team Global Express.

Danny Gravell, CIO of Team Global Express, commented: "Our partnership with Infosys enabled us to successfully set up an independent technology capability and transform our foundation technology platforms. Using ready-to-use templates from Infosys Cobalt, we could complete the transformation at speed with maximum efficiency. This program has enabled us to work towards providing the best possible experience for our customers."

Executive Vice President & Global Head of Consumer, Retail & Logistics, Infosys, Karmesh Vaswani, said, "The separation program for Team Global Express presented a unique opportunity to achieve significant value. This complex program challenged us to not only accomplish the separation on-time and without business disruption, but also to establish a modern, secure, and scalable digital foundation to accelerate their future growth. Leveraging our proven Infosys Cobalt cloud ecosystem and through a collaborative partnership with Team Global Express, we successfully navigated the complexities of this program, achieving an outcome that ranks among our most impactful engagements in the Australia and New Zealand region."
