IWD 2024: My journey breaking barriers and leading in cybersecurity
Fri, 8th Mar 2024

As the CEO of Liongard, I've navigated through a career path filled with challenges and triumphs, all while striving to break barriers and pave the way for women in cybersecurity. My journey underscores the critical importance of diversity and female leadership in an industry traditionally dominated by men.

From the outset, I encountered scepticism and resistance simply because of my gender. In a field where women are underrepresented, breaking into leadership roles can be an uphill battle.

However, I refused to let these obstacles deter me. Instead, I used them as fuel to drive my determination and prove that gender is not a limitation to success in cybersecurity.

One of the most significant lessons I've learned along the way is the power of collaboration and partnership. In cybersecurity, where threats are constantly evolving, no single entity can tackle the challenges alone. By fostering alliances with other industry players, we can leverage collective expertise and resources to stay ahead of emerging threats and better protect our clients.

Moreover, my belief in the importance of an open 10x ecosystem stems from firsthand experience. Siloed solutions and proprietary platforms only serve to hinder progress and limit innovation. By advocating for openness and interoperability, we can create a more dynamic and adaptable cybersecurity landscape—one that empowers organizations to seamlessly integrate diverse tools and technologies for enhanced protection.

Breaking barriers and championing diversity isn't just a personal mission—it's a responsibility I feel deeply connected to. As a female leader in cybersecurity, I recognize the significance of representation and the need to cultivate a more inclusive industry. By mentoring and supporting aspiring women in technology, I hope to inspire future generations to pursue their ambitions without hesitation, knowing that their contributions are valued and needed.

In conclusion, my journey as a woman leading in cybersecurity underscores the transformative potential of diversity and inclusion. By breaking barriers, embracing collaboration, and advocating for openness, we can drive positive change and shape a future where everyone—regardless of gender—has equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.

This is truly barrier-breaking - when we lift others up and give them the hammer to break through. Together, we can redefine what it means to be a leader in cybersecurity and create a more inclusive and innovative industry for generations to come.
