Juniper Networks unveils EX4000 Series Switches for AI

Fri, 14th Feb 2025

Juniper Networks has introduced the EX4000 Series Switches, expanding its wired access offerings to meet the changing demands of digital infrastructure.

The EX4000 Series Switches utilise Juniper's AI-Native Networking Platform, focusing on providing scalable IT operations and enhancing digital transformation initiatives with a sustainable approach. These switches are designed with cloud-native architecture for effective wired and wireless experiences, featuring capabilities such as fast deployment, maximised uptime, and Zero Trust security.

Significant attention is given to reducing operational complexity through AI-driven automation within the EX4000 Series. Mist AI and automation technologies facilitate Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP), enabling quicker deployment and reducing operational expenditure by up to 85%. The company's innovations have also resulted in 90% fewer trouble tickets and 85% fewer truck rolls, contributing to lower maintenance costs.

Juniper's EX4000 Series allows seamless migration to Wi-Fi 7, providing high-density and energy-efficient connectivity. Numerous port options and Power over Ethernet (PoE++) support are designed through a virtual chassis model, minimising the need for extensive rewiring during network upgrades.

Security and sustainability have also been priorities for the company. Zero Trust security mechanisms are integrated into the EX4000 Series, offering ongoing identification, authentication, and access control. Furthermore, the switches conserve energy with intelligent power management features, aligning with global sustainability goals.

Brandon Butler, IDC Senior Research Manager, Enterprise Networks, expressed his approval, "Powered by its AI-Native Networking Platform, the release of the EX4000 Series Switches marks an important upgrade to Juniper's family of campus and branch Ethernet switches. By pairing this new access-layer switch with Wi-Fi 7 advancements, the EX4000 supports seamless integration across Juniper's wired and wireless solutions for consistent and reliable experiences. Further, Juniper's Zero Trust port capabilities demonstrate its proactive security approach to converging networking and security, without adding complexity."

Educational institutions such as the Eugene School District 4J have found the integration of the EX4000 beneficial. Ben Shapiro, Senior Network Engineer at the district, noted, "At Eugene School District 4J, our goal is to provide students, educators and staff with a seamless and resilient digital learning environment. By integrating Juniper EX Switches, Mist Wired Assurance and Marvis into our network, we've strengthened both performance and operational efficiency. Now, with the EX4000 Switch family in our toolkit, we're expanding Juniper's AI-Native switching across the district—enhancing reliability, simplifying IT operations and ensuring our network keeps pace with the evolving needs of K-12 education."

Sanjoy Dey, Vice President, Product Management, Campus and Branch at Juniper Networks, commented, "The EX4000 Series is more than just a switch—it's a cornerstone for organizations navigating digital transformation in the next era of AI-Native Networking. The EX4000 was designed with customer input to better prepare organizations for today's networks. With its agility, resiliency and security, these switches embody Juniper's commitment to simplifying network operations and enhancing user experiences through AI- and cloud-native solutions. Whether enabling immersive classroom experiences or advancing breakthrough health care initiatives, the EX4000 empowers global enterprises of all sizes to easily access best-in-class AIOps and seamlessly adapt to the ever-evolving connectivity landscape."
