Konica Minolta launches MiR robots to boost Aussie automation

Tue, 8th Jul 2025

Konica Minolta Australia has announced the upcoming introduction of two new autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) developed by Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR), a division of Teradyne Robotics, to the Australian market.

Product details

The two robots, the MiR MC250 Mobile Cobot and the MiR1200 Pallet Jack, will be shown in Australia for the first time. According to Konica Minolta, these machines demonstrate the increasing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in automating logistical and production processes across manufacturing and warehousing sectors.

The MiR MC250 Mobile Cobot is described as a compact, collaborative platform featuring an integrated Universal Robots (UR) arm and MiR navigation technology. Its primary functions include automated machine tending and quality inspection, with the flexibility to operate across different production lines. The unit is designed for environments with limited space, integrating built-in safety features to ensure close human-robot interaction and enabling quick redeployment with minimal set-up time.

Meanwhile, the MiR1200 Pallet Jack is designed for fast and accurate transport of pallets. Among its key features are AI-based perception for reliable pallet detection, a high-capacity battery to support round-the-clock operation, compliance with ISO 3691-4 safety standards, and the ability to handle payloads up to 1,200kg.

The launch is expected to mark increased availability of mobile robotic solutions aimed at improving workflow speed, flexibility, and safety in Australian workplaces making use of automation.

On-stand showcase

Alongside the new robots, the MiR1350, a heavy-duty AMR capable of carrying up to 1,350kg with its Shelf Lift accessory, will also be demonstrated. All three robots in the MiR portfolio will be supported locally by Konica Minolta, which will provide support and integration services for Australian users.

Direct commentary

"We're excited to bring the MiR MC250 and MiR1200 Pallet Jack to Australian shores for the first time. These solutions offer practical automation that can be quickly integrated into real-world operations. CeMAT is the perfect opportunity for local businesses to see their potential firsthand."

Manglesh Jain, Robotics Business Manager for Konica Minolta Australia, emphasised the practical applications and ease of integration of these AMRs for businesses considering investments in automation.

Masayuki Mase, Channel Development Manager for Teradyne Robotics, commented on the significance of the launch for the Australian logistics and robotics market:

"Both robots represent a new generation of intralogistics automation. We're proud to launch them in Australia in partnership with Konica Minolta and show how they can drive immediate impact for Australian businesses."

Demonstration opportunities

Attendees at the launch will have access to live demonstrations of the MiR robots in operation. Scheduled group demonstrations will be held multiple times each day, and there is the opportunity to book individual appointments for more tailored sessions to explore the products' capabilities in-depth.

The three showcased robots represent the growing use of AI-driven automation across logistics and manufacturing, where efficiency improvements, adherence to safety standards, and minimisation of downtime are priorities for organisations seeking to remain competitive.

The event and showcase provide companies in Australia with a first-hand look at the latest mobile robot platforms available for deployment and the support structures in place for their integration and operation in a local context.
