Lancom Technology has received Great Place to Work accreditation, based on employee feedback gathered through an independent workplace assessment.

The Auckland-headquartered technology company earned the accreditation after a company-wide engagement review conducted by Great Place to Work, which uses its Trust Index survey to measure staff views on leadership, culture and workplace experience.

Lancom has operated for nearly 40 years and expanded from New Zealand into Australia and the United States, building its presence around a broad customer base across those markets.

Workplace focus

The accreditation comes as technology employers continue to compete for skilled staff. Workplace recognition schemes have become one way to support recruitment and retention in a tight labour market, as companies look for ways to demonstrate the quality of their internal culture and employment offer.

Lancom's employment offer includes career development pathways, flexible working arrangements, fully covered healthcare insurance, and funding for industry certifications and courses. Staff also receive a day off on their birthday and can access negotiated pricing from industry suppliers.

Chief Executive Officer Priscila Bernardes said the result reflected the culture Lancom has tried to build internally and the values that guide its approach to the workplace.

"Our values are the cornerstone of our approach to culture, and those values are continuous learning, being curious, and being humbly confident. While we've always been humbly confident that we are a destination for growth, securing external validation is a satisfying confirmation," said Priscila Bernardes, Chief Executive Officer, Lancom Technology.

Employee feedback

Great Place to Work accreditation is awarded through a formal process based on employee responses rather than company submissions. The Trust Index survey is used internationally to assess staff sentiment and benchmark organisations against wider standards.

Bernardes said that method mattered to the company because the accreditation was tied directly to what employees had said about their workplace experience.

"We do take immense pride in the fact that accreditation is grounded in direct employee feedback rather than employer submissions," said Bernardes.

The programme also provides data that can be used to examine organisational health and identify areas for improvement, including engagement, retention and the overall employee experience.

Staff investment

Lancom framed the recognition as part of a broader effort to develop its workforce and maintain its culture as the business grows. Investment in training and certification has been a visible part of that approach, alongside workplace benefits and office conditions.

The company said its employment approach is built around providing staff with practical support for professional development, while also maintaining workplace conditions intended to make day-to-day work more comfortable.

"Our people are our differentiator, and we take pride in investing in training and certification for individuals, creating an appealing office environment, being approachable as individuals, and providing benefits that matter and make for a more comfortable experience," added Bernardes.

She said the company had long believed it offered a strong working environment.

"We've always felt that we are a great place to work. Now we have the external validation to confirm it," added Bernardes.

Internal improvements

Bernardes added that the assessment would also be used to guide internal changes.

"We'll use the data gathered through the Great Place to Work accreditation as fuel for further improvement and targeted initiatives to enhance engagement, retention and organisational culture," added Bernardes.

Lancom said the recognition sits alongside its continuing focus on workforce development, employee experience and organisational culture as the business continues to operate across New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
