MyState Limited has selected Tata Consultancy Services to deploy the TCS BaNCS Global Banking Platform to support the integration of MyState Bank and Auswide Bank after their merger.

The project is designed to bring multiple core banking systems, business processes, data repositories, and customer service functions into a single operating model. It forms part of a broader core banking transformation as MyState combines the two banking businesses under one brand.

For MyState, the move is aimed at simplifying a technology estate that has expanded through the merger. The bank expects the platform to reduce operational complexity while creating a single foundation for customer service and product development.

The implementation also reflects a broader trend in Australian banking, where lenders are replacing older core systems to reduce operating friction and improve digital channels. Post-merger integration has become a particular pressure point for mid-sized financial institutions that need to unify customer records, processes, and back-office systems without disrupting service.

MyState said the platform would support digital banking services and more tailored customer interactions. It also expects the system to help the bank use technology and data more effectively across the enlarged group.

Brett Morgan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MyState Limited, outlined the bank's rationale for the decision.

"The decision to implement a modern, AI-enabled core banking platform is an important step in building a simpler, stronger and more scalable bank for our customers and our people. This platform will help us consolidate systems, reduce complexity, and create the foundation for faster innovation, better digital experiences, and continued growth. It also supports our ambition to use technology and data more effectively so we can deliver more personalised, responsive and reliable banking services for customers across Australia," said Brett Morgan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MyState Limited.

Single platform

TCS BaNCS Global Banking Platform will serve as the common core system for the merged organisation. According to the companies, the programme covers core banking functions as well as payments, customer engagement, relationship management, and digital operations.

TCS said the transformation would use the platform's model-bank architecture, configurable product framework, workflow automation tools, API-led integration, and AI-based transformation tools. In practice, MyState is seeking to standardise processes that are currently spread across separate systems inherited or retained through the merger.

The approach is intended to make integration less dependent on custom development and manual workarounds. A unified system can also make it easier for a bank to manage product changes, customer service, and compliance processes across a larger customer base.

MyState said the programme should improve operational efficiency and support faster product development. It added that the platform would provide capacity for future growth and possible acquisitions, indicating the bank wants infrastructure that can absorb further expansion without another major systems overhaul.

Growth plans

The deal gives TCS another reference point in financial services modernisation, an area where banks have continued to spend despite cost pressures. Core banking replacement projects are often long and complex because they involve critical customer accounts, payment flows, and product systems that must keep running during migration.

For banks emerging from a merger, the stakes are often higher. Running multiple legacy systems can raise costs and slow decision-making, while separate service models can create inconsistent customer experiences across the business.

Venkateshwaran Srinivasan, Global Head of Financial Solutions at TCS, said the work was intended to address those issues while helping the bank combine operations.

"We are pleased to partner with MyState Limited on this transformative journey to build a unified, future-ready banking platform. TCS BaNCS brings together capabilities across core banking, payments, customer engagement, relationship management, and digital operations. This modernisation will help MyState Bank improve customer experience, strengthen operational efficiency, realise merger synergies, and accelerate growth. The transformation will help build the agility and scalability needed to support AI-powered operations and meet the evolving needs of its customers," said Venkateshwaran Srinivasan, Global Head of Financial Solutions at TCS.

TCS reported consolidated revenue of more than USD $30 billion in its latest fiscal year.
