Nutanix offers free services to Asia Pacific region in wake of coronavirus

Nutanix, an enterprise cloud OS specialist, has announced it is providing free virtual desktop services to help staff in the Asia Pacific region affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
Businesses across the A/NZ and APAC regions are grappling with declining productivity due to an increasing inability of staff to make it to the office as the public health crisis worsens.
Nutanix has offered an enhanced free trial of its Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solution called Frame to businesses across these regions, as more people opt to stay at home or work remotely.
The Nutanix offer provides Asia Pacific businesses with a free 30-day trial for unlimited users.
The announcement comes as businesses around the world face further restrictions on staff travel and congregation in response to the continuing COVID-19 outbreak.
Nutanix Frame is a cloud-based solution providing a virtual desktop which provides users with access to the desktop without relying on any internal hardware.
Nutanix says the Frame software was born out of the need for business continuity and continuing proliferation of cloud technology.
The adoption of public, private and hybrid cloud services has meant that the access to, and availability of, critical data has been maintained.
At the same time, the transition from hardware-based to software-defined infrastructure has meant that physical access to datacentres is no longer required and central operations can be handled remotely or by a skeleton staff.
This has enabled companies around the world to carry on with business as usual even as unforeseen or unprecedented events occur.
As Frame is cloud-based, virtual workspaces for individuals, teams, customers, and partners can usually be up and running within an hour, says Nutanix.
Isolated staff, such as those who have been directed affected by the coronavirus, can then have safe and secure access to any application simply from their home web browser, with no software download or upgrade required.
