Oracle NetSuite has announced a range of artificial intelligence updates for customers in Australia and New Zealand, covering finance, warehouse operations, eCommerce integrations and project management.

The changes are designed to help users automate tasks, improve oversight and use AI features across the NetSuite business software suite. The announcement includes a new NetSuite Next offering, an AI Connector Service and a series of product updates that are already available in the region.

At the centre of the launch is NetSuite Next, which brings conversational tools, workflow automation and natural language search to the platform. It includes Ask Oracle, a natural language assistant that allows users to search, navigate, analyse and take action across the suite.

NetSuite Next is intended to support finance, operations and customer engagement functions. It will be available to customers in Australia and New Zealand within the next 12 months, while the other announced updates are available now.

Also included is the NetSuite AI Connector Service, aimed at businesses that want to connect external AI assistants and agent platforms to NetSuite. Users can choose an assistant, define what data it can access and set rules for how it interacts with the system.

The connector service is built on open standards, including the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, and includes both standard and custom MCP tools for integrating external AI systems with NetSuite software.

Suite updates

Beyond the new AI products, NetSuite outlined changes across project accounting, inventory management, warehousing and eCommerce connectors. The updates are intended to reduce manual work in several operational areas and improve data flow between NetSuite and third-party platforms.

For project-based businesses, NetSuite has added SuiteProjects functions designed to improve revenue recognition and task management. The latest changes include the ability to recalculate revenue plans immediately and issue real-time alerts when project activity affects revenue.

In inventory management, NetSuite has introduced AI-generated inventory narratives. These summaries draw on multiple inventory reports to give users a concise explanation of stock status, including potential anomalies such as excess stock, low inventory, back-order risks and valuation concentrations.

The inventory narratives are part of a broader set of more than 20 AI-generated narrative features across the suite, designed to help users interpret operational data more quickly without manually reviewing multiple reports.

Warehouse management has also been updated. Customers can now search for kit and non-inventory items, automate landed cost validations and purchase order receipt processing, reverse inbound shipments and receive real-time back-order alerts during work order picking.

NetSuite has also expanded integrations for merchants using Shopify, Amazon Seller Central and Loop, a returns management platform. The changes are focused on synchronising order and payment data between external sales channels and NetSuite.

The new NetSuite Connector for Loop automates the flow of returns data from Shopify into NetSuite. This allows businesses to generate return authorisations, item receipts and cash refunds automatically using Loop workflows and self-service configuration settings.

NetSuite also updated its Shopify connector with bidirectional order-edit synchronisation for Shopify B2B. This means edits made in NetSuite, including pricing changes, quantity adjustments and line-item updates, can be reflected in B2B portals so buyers and operations teams are working from the same order details.

For Amazon Seller Central users, the enhanced connector can now import payment and deposit information directly into NetSuite. Full, partial and split payments can be mapped to the correct order or invoice to support reconciliation and accounting accuracy.

The announcement comes as software providers continue adding AI features to finance and operations systems, with a focus on reducing repetitive work and making large datasets easier to query through natural language tools. ERP vendors have also been expanding integrations with external AI services as customers seek more control over where assistants can operate and what information they can access.

NetSuite says it serves more than 43,000 customers across 220 countries and dependent territories. Australia and New Zealand remain important markets for cloud software providers targeting mid-sized organisations and larger enterprises with regional operations.

"NetSuite is committed to delivering a collaborative, insightful, adaptive, AI-first experience that will help our customers in Australia and New Zealand take full advantage of the latest AI innovations," said Brian Chess, Senior Vice President of AI, Product, and Technology at Oracle NetSuite.

"With embedded AI that respects existing roles, permissions, and business policies, NetSuite helps organisations expand insights, boost productivity, and achieve immediate value from AI," Chess said.
