Pelion launches Pelion Plans aiming for global growth

Today

Pelion has introduced Pelion Plans, a new managed Internet of Things (IoT) product and service proposition, as the company plans to expand worldwide.

Pelion, originally established in 2000, serves over 1,000 enterprise clients from multiple industries, including transport, healthcare, energy, utilities, and industrial IoT. Historically supported by major technology investors such as Arm and Softbank, Pelion became an independent entity backed by Scottish Equity Partners in 2022.

Pelion's new initiative focuses on rebranding and offering Pelion Plans as a core element of its growth strategies, both domestically and internationally.

Dave Weidner, Chief Executive Officer at Pelion, remarked on industry trends: "As an industry, MVNOs are seeing strong and sustained growth because businesses' connectivity needs are increasing and becoming more complex with national and global deployments."

"At Pelion, we've focused on developing flexible, multi-carrier connectivity, which has, in turn, enhanced reliability for our clients deploying in a single country or across the globe. We have less than half an hour of downtime annually, compared with the industry average of 87 hours. The cost of that downtime is significant – in the US, that 87 hours costs the average enterprise USD $22.8 million per year – so bringing that as low as possible is key."

Weidner explained the company's outlook: "The last two years have been a period of really fine-tuning our offer to provide the most reliable and secure service. Now that we've done that work, we're moving into growth mode, looking to expand our work with enterprises large and small in both domestic and international markets. Our evolved brand and Pelion Plans are the starting point for setting us apart."

The Pelion IoT eSIM is a crucial part of their new offering. It is eUICC enabled, allowing the flexibility to store multiple mobile network operator (MNO) profiles on a single SIM. Such capability permits seamless switching between MNOs, thus allowing Pelion's enterprise customers to change MNO profiles based on location, service quality, or cost requirements. This feature is designed to address potential MNO outages efficiently by enabling quick switching to alternative providers, thereby minimising downtimes.

Pelion Plans use these IoT eSIMs to accommodate various levels of technological deployment and managed services. The proposition is geared toward supporting businesses in scaling their IoT investments according to their evolving connectivity requirements.
