Polycom RealPresence Trio takes home a Red Dot
The Polycom Real Presence Trio was recently awarded the Red Dot, the international distinction for high design quality. The smart hub for group collaboration combines stunning audio quality with easy-to-use videoconferencing and content sharing features.
There were participants from more than 57 nations who had registered their products and innovations for the Product Design 2016 award, but only products that set themselves apart considerably through their excellent design receive the sought-after quality seal from the international Red Dot jury.
There were 41 experts in the jury from all around the world for the Product Design Red Dot award, all chosen according to strict rules. This guarantees a very high judging standard. Only freelance designers, design professors and specialised journalists – but not designers employed at companies potentially participating – are appointed to the jury.
Some of the criteria that each product was judged on included the degree of innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility.
"With their performances, the Red Dot winners not only demonstrated an extraordinary design quality, but they also showed that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions," says Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and president of the Red Dot Award.
The Polycom RealPresence Trio solution essentially takes the company's iconic three-point conference phone, and transforms it into an easy-to-use, no-compromise videoconferencing and content sharing system. This makes enterprise-class video conferencing experiences accessible to spaces that would previously be cost-prohibitive.
Users benefit from the HD audio, the large full-colour touch screen display and the sleek modern design. This isn't to mention the broad interoperability and deep integration with the leading cloud call control platforms and the most familiar unified communications platforms, including Skype for Business and Microsoft Office 365.
We all know there is nothing more irritating than a noisy chip packet during a conference call, and fortunately with the RealPresence Trio solution, end users experience pristine sound quality as extraneous noises, such as keyboard typing, sirens, noisy eating or dogs barking are eliminated – certainly a valid reason to earn an award on its own!
