Ricoh Australia launches new A3 black-and-white printers

Ricoh Australia has launched a new range of A3 black-and-white multifunction printers in Australia, comprising the IM 2510, IM 4510 and IM 6010.

The devices are aimed at businesses seeking black-and-white print systems that match existing Ricoh colour fleets in design and operation. Ricoh is positioning the range for organisations managing daily document workflows and mixed printer estates.

All three models share the same design, dimensions and core functions as the current IM C series. This is intended to give existing customers a familiar interface and reduce the need for extra staff training in offices using both colour and monochrome machines.

Across the range, the printers produce output at 1,200 dpi and use a 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel with capacitive touch. They also include standard wireless LAN and support connections to cloud services through Ricoh Smart Integration.

Print speeds vary by model: the IM 2510 prints at 25 pages per minute, the IM 4510 at 45 pages per minute and the IM 6010 at 60 pages per minute.

Scanning is another point of difference. The series can reach scanning speeds of up to 300 images per minute when fitted with an optional Single Pass Document Feeder, while the IM 6010 includes that feeder as standard.

Some finishing options are reserved for the higher-end machines. The IM 4510 and IM 6010 can be fitted with 3,000-sheet finishers and a 10-sheet stapleless binding option.

Security focus

Built-in security features include a tampering prevention device with digitally signed firmware through Trusted Platform Module 2.0, support for Wi-Fi Protected Access 3 and ECDSA 128-bit encryption. These measures are intended to help organisations protect data across documents, devices and networks.

The machines are also designed for controlled operation in workplaces where information security and compliance requirements are a factor. This reflects a broader trend in office equipment purchasing, with IT and risk teams taking a larger role in printer and document system decisions.

Costs and materials

Consumables in the new series offer up to 25% higher yield than predecessor models. Ricoh said flexible paper capacity and components used in the IM C series are intended to reduce user intervention and keep running costs more predictable over time.

Environmental considerations are also part of the launch. Ricoh says the printers use up to 50% recycled materials and include energy-saving features, as well as low-melt toner technology already used in its current colour range.

The company also says packaging waste and plastic use have been reduced. Those changes may appeal to companies under pressure to show progress against internal environmental targets while retaining established office print and scan processes.

Ricoh operates in about 200 countries and regions and remains one of the better-known brands in workplace printing and document systems. In the financial year ended March 2026, Ricoh Group reported worldwide sales of 2,608 billion yen, or about USD $16.4 billion.
