Rocket Software unveils ContentEdge for safer GenAI
Rocket Software has launched Rocket ContentEdge, a product it says gives organisations governed, in-place access to unstructured information across hybrid environments.
The company positioned ContentEdge around what it described as safety-first use of generative AI, alongside automation and analytics for operational content. Rocket Software said the product works across cloud, on-premises and mainframe systems and aims to avoid disruption to existing operations.
Organisations often hold large volumes of unstructured information in documents, emails, images, files and records spread across multiple systems. Rocket Software said these estates commonly sit behind strict compliance and privacy requirements. The company said it designed ContentEdge to connect to existing data sources while respecting established access controls and compliance policies.
Rocket Software said its approach centres on keeping information in place. It said teams can query and analyse protected content without moving it into new repositories. The company also highlighted built-in redaction and the reuse of existing access controls.
"Rocket ContentEdge reflects where the market is going and what our customers need to effectively access their critical unstructured data," said Michael Curry, President of Data Modernisation, Rocket Software. "By combining safety-first GenAI, automation, and deep ecosystem integration, we are enabling organisations to modernise at their own pace, reduce risk and cost, and unlock new value from their most critical information assets."
Hybrid access
Rocket Software said ContentEdge targets operational business information across hybrid environments. It said the product provides governed access to enterprise content across cloud services, on-premises deployments and mainframe estates. The company said the design fits organisations that need to apply analytics and AI to operational content while retaining existing controls.
The company also described a discovery workflow that maps compliance, business and technology context. Rocket Software said automation can create enterprise-wide data views and shorten the steps between discovery and deployment for data access, integrations and analytics.
Ecosystem links
Rocket Software said ContentEdge includes native integrations with a number of enterprise platforms. It cited SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint. The company said these integrations aim to improve discovery and insight while limiting data movement and duplication.
It also set out a position on structured and unstructured data working together. Rocket Software said ContentEdge can merge unstructured information into structured analytics tools via open standards. The company said this process maintains system of record controls for AI and analytics.
Portfolio changes
Rocket Software described ContentEdge as an evolution of its Content Services portfolio. The company said updates across the wider ContentEdge portfolio include guided experiences, expanded search and discovery, and GenAI-based extraction for specific use cases. It listed contract management among those use cases. The company also highlighted secure, web-based access to critical system data.
In an analyst comment included in Rocket Software's announcement, IDC framed the challenge as balancing AI use with compliance requirements.
"Al's promise of faster decisions and better experiences depends on unlocking insights from unstructured content without compromising compliance," said Amy Machado, Senior Research Manager, Content and Knowledge Discovery Strategies, IDC "Rocket Software's ContentEdge solution is an example of embracing what comes next, by enabling governed, in-place access to sensitive information and bridging the gap between content and analytics. This approach helps organisations accelerate productivity and deliver measurable business impact while maintaining trust and control."
Customer view
Rocket Software also included a comment from AgFirst Farm Credit Bank.
"From the perspective of a financial institution, obtaining insights from operational information is important. ContentEdge enables us to locate information, unlock intelligence, and drive efficiencies from critical documents." said Brian Kelley of AgFirst Farm Credit Bank.
Rocket Software said organisations use the product for high-volume operational workflows. It listed contract analysis, AI-driven data extraction, expanded search and discovery, fleet-related automation, and web-based access across mainframe, distributed and cloud systems.
Rocket Software said ContentEdge forms part of its broader data modernisation strategy. The company said it will continue to develop features around operationalising AI across hybrid information estates.
