Samsung Australia Announces Leadership appointments for 2023

Samsung Electronics Australia has announced a series of leadership appointments across the business set to take effect from October 2023.

Leading the Mobile Experience (MX) division as Director and Head of MX will be Eric Chou. Chou’s responsibilities will encompass the supervision of the MX division’s local strategy and portfolio, which includes smartphones, wearables, accessories, and tablets. A seasoned professional with over two decades of technology experience, Chou joined Samsung in 2012 and has held multiple roles since then that have contributed significantly to the growth of Samsung’s Australian arm. His most recent role was as Head of Direct to Consumer (DTC), where he led a cross-divisional task force to enhance customer experience.

Simon Howe will step up into the role of Director of Audio Visual, where he will supervise local sales and product management activities. Bringing to the role a profound understanding of consumer electronics, Howe’s diligence, passion, and ability to foster key partnerships are seen as invaluable to his new position. His tenure at Samsung dates back to 2013 when he joined as Head of Product, TV and Audio, and he has consistently delivered in various capacities throughout his career.

Leading the welcome of Chou into his new role as Director and Head of MX, Ken Kim, President of MX Australia, says, “Eric understands the consumer perspective, and the mobile industry’s pace and challenges. It is this unique skillset that has made Eric the ideal choice to lead and execute on the strategic direction of the MX division.”

Chou’s appointment follows the exit of Vice President of Mobile Experience, Garry McGregor after nearly ten years with Samsung. Ken Kim expressed the company’s heartfelt gratitude towards McGregor saying, “We extend our sincere thanks to Garry for his dedication to Samsung and wish him every success in the future."

In addition to these crucial appointments, Muneeb Ekhlaque, will be Head of Customer Service, and Sasha Botha will be Head of Home Appliance. Both have previously held substantial roles within Samsung’s Consumer Electronics division.
