SOTI launches dashboards to optimise Australian retail tech use

Today

SOTI has released new Personal Shopper Device Utilisation and Store Comparison Dashboards aimed at improving the management of in-store technologies for Australian retailers.

According to research by SOTI, 85% of Australian shoppers consider the speed at which they can access, locate items, and complete payment in a store as critical to a positive in-store experience. The ability to quickly receive assistance from retail staff was also cited as vital by 83% of survey respondents.

Michael Dyson, Vice President of Sales, APAC at SOTI, said: "Australian consumers expect fast, high-quality service the moment they walk into a retail store. If those expectations aren't met, they don't just leave empty handed, they often don't come back. For retailers, it's critical that staff are equipped with the right tools and technology to work efficiently and deliver exceptional service every time."

The Personal Shopper Device Utilisation Dashboard offers detailed insights on individual devices or an entire store fleet. The dashboard enables retailers to track device model types, observe peak hourly usage, monitor average time devices spend in their cradles, and review average device return times. The intention is to assist operational teams in identifying whether devices are underutilised, inefficiently used, or require reallocation to match customer demand.

The Store Comparison Dashboard extends visibility across a retailer's network, allowing head office teams to compare performance metrics across stores. This transparency enables rapid identification of stores performing above or below expectations and highlights locations where extra support or intervention might be necessary. Such comparisons are designed to help retailers balance resources and enhance the quality and consistency of customer experience in all locations.

Dyson commented on the current state of retail operations, stating: "Retailers often invest in in-store technology without having a full picture of how, or even if, it's being used effectively. With these dashboards, we're giving businesses a way to make informed, data-backed decisions. That leads to better store performance and a smoother customer experience."

The recent update to SOTI XSight also introduces Live View, a feature that provides real-time and historical data on device performance throughout a retail network. According to SOTI, this enhancement will allow store teams to identify issues before they affect customers or sales, as well as support proactive device management and maintenance.

Dyson stated: "Technology should empower staff and enhance service, not add complexity. By giving retailers access to real-time data and historical insights, we're making it easier to keep devices running, customers satisfied, and stores operating at peak efficiency."

SOTI developed these new features in response to increased demand from retailers seeking to provide seamless, efficient, and personalised shopping experiences. With comprehensive visibility of device usage, the new dashboards aim to transform previously untapped data into actionable insights that can inform better operational decisions and outcomes.
