Teradata achieves IRAP assessment for VantageCloud Lake suite

Today

Teradata has completed the Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment at the PROTECTED level for its VantageCloud Lake solution on Amazon Web Services, Azure and Google Cloud.

This assessment follows Teradata's prior IRAP certification for its VantageCloud Enterprise solution, expanding the company's range of secure, compliant cloud offerings for use in government and industry projects that require high levels of information security.

IRAP, developed by the Australian Signals Directorate, provides a framework to assess the security of information and communications technology systems handling Australian government data. Products and services that achieve IRAP PROTECTED-level assessment are recognised as meeting requirements for storing and managing sensitive government data, making them relevant options for agencies and critical infrastructure providers.

Teradata's VantageCloud Lake is a cloud-native analytics and data platform designed to unify disparate data sources across public, private or hybrid cloud architectures. The completion of the IRAP assessment applies to VantageCloud Lake deployments on AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, providing agencies and enterprises with flexibility in choosing cloud environments according to operational and compliance requirements.

Josh Abbott, Vice President, Teradata Australia, New Zealand and Japan, commented on the assessment, saying, "The completion of this new IRAP assessment highlights our deep commitment to supporting Australian organisations with trusted, innovative cloud capabilities. Whether customers are working across public, hybrid or private cloud environments, Teradata VantageCloud enables them to drive innovation with the right security guardrails in place – helping them move faster with confidence."

Billy Spears, Chief Information Security Officer at Teradata, said, "As organisations expand their use of AI across complex cloud environments, securing the data foundation becomes critical. IRAP assessment demonstrates that Teradata VantageCloud meets the rigorous security and compliance standards needed to help customers safeguard insights and stay resilient in a rapidly evolving threat landscape."

The IRAP assessment, according to Teradata, means that its cloud analytics and data platform can now be used to power artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives in environments subject to strict data handling, privacy and cyber security standards. This can assist public sector agencies and large scale enterprises in managing their own compliance obligations while pursuing data-driven transformation projects.

With the completion of IRAP assessment at the PROTECTED level for both VantageCloud Enterprise and VantageCloud Lake, Teradata provides government and regulated customers in Australia with increased choices in adopting cloud analytics and AI platforms, including across multi-cloud strategies and hybrid scenarios where workloads span off-premises and on-premises systems.

The IRAP framework requires assessment by security-registered professionals qualified by the ASD. The process evaluates cloud services and solutions on criteria such as data protection, risk management, incident response, and ongoing monitoring of security controls aligned to current threats and compliance obligations in the Australian context.

Australian public sector organisations and enterprises operating in regulated industries can now leverage the assessed Teradata services as they pursue digital transformation goals and implement artificial intelligence and analytics initiatives, while adhering to national security benchmarks for cloud-based workloads.
