Teradata expands Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS

Fri, 3rd May 2024

Teradata has announced a renewal and expansion of its Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide further support to customers as they modernise data analytic ecosystems, migrate to the cloud and harness artificial intelligence (AI) opportunities. This strengthened affiliation will facilitate the development of additional industry-vertical use cases, integrating more AWS services and generating harmonised data, Trusted AI, and secure, cloud-native technology.

Building on their existing partnership, Teradata and AWS have previously integrated services such as Amazon SageMaker, which empowers companies to construct, train, and implement machine learning (ML) models for various use cases. The innovative infrastructure, tools, and workflows provided by SageMaker assist companies in expediting AI/ML projects, thereby generating data-driven insights.

Peter Murty, Head of Technology - Data Platforms & Governance at The Very Group, commented on the benefits they have experienced from the partnership, "By leveraging Teradata VantageCloud on AWS, we are able to score complex machine learning functions to predict consumer product demand. This forecasting solution integrates Amazon SageMaker models with Teradata VantageCloud to ensure that the right products are in stock and ready to ship." He also expressed eagerness for future integrations that will unlock more AI use cases, including generative AI.

Chris Grusz, Managing Director, Technology Partnerships at AWS, shared his enthusiasm about the collaboration, "Through this expanded agreement, we aim to deliver enhanced flexibility by allowing customers to migrate at their own pace and reduce data preparation for AI initiatives."

The enhancement of the SCA offers numerous customer benefits, including rapid, flexible cloud access. Teradata and AWS offer a comprehensive cloud services and cloud management portfolio facilitating enterprise clients' expeditious and flexible access to the cloud. By continuously investing in new offerings, the two platforms will empower various users to build new workloads and applications across a vast array of AWS services at the enterprise scale in the cloud.

The expanded agreement also proposes accelerated, simplified access to cloud platforms via AWS Marketplace. The success of Teradata VantageCloud in AWS Marketplace has motivated both parties to broaden the SCA, offering customers a streamlined experience by allowing them to consolidate their subscriptions directly through AWS.

With a focus on delivering meaningful business outcomes, the two companies have successfully collaborated to offer ready-to-use reference architectures and use case-specific recipes. Using Teradata VantageCloud's power and speed, customers across various industries are progressively benefitting from the accelerated time-to-insight.

Both companies are leveraging the expanded SCA to establish a foundation for generative AI analytics use cases, allowing organisations to build a trusted data foundation across the enterprise.

Michael Hutchinson, Chief Customer Officer at Teradata, stated, "Our expanded SCA with AWS highlights our commitment to being a cloud-first, customer-first company. This deepened collaboration with AWS will provide a tightly integrated, streamlined experience for customers using VantageCloud on AWS."
