Vanta expands APAC presence with new Sydney data centre

Today

Vanta has announced the expansion of its presence in Australia and New Zealand with the opening of a new data centre in Sydney and the increase in support for local compliance frameworks.

The company has introduced these developments at a time when the Australian government has put forward the country's first Cyber Security Act, which places heightened compliance obligations on small businesses. The expansion includes support for frameworks such as CPS 234 and Essential Eight, alongside an increase in its regional support team. This move is part of Vanta's commitment to helping businesses in the region streamline their compliance processes.

"As Vanta continues expanding our presence in the ANZ region, we're ensuring that our customers have more control over where their data is stored and can provide confidence that their data is safe, secure, and accessible," said Jonathon Coleman, General Manager, APAC at Vanta. "We're committed to helping ANZ businesses confidently scale their compliance programs, providing them with the localised capabilities and expertise needed to strengthen their security and compliance, and demonstrate trust."

The newly launched data centre is situated in Sydney, New South Wales. This facility allows organisations based in Australia and New Zealand to securely store their data within the region, thus meeting regulatory and internal policies regarding data residency.

In terms of regulatory support, Vanta now caters to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) CPS 234 framework, which is pivotal for financial institutions aiming to safeguard sensitive data and maintain resilience against cyber threats. The company provides an automated path to fulfilling the CPS 234 requirements, aiding customers in grasping new controls and policy demands while facilitating effortless compliance maintenance.

Additionally, Vanta extends its support to the Essential Eight framework, which is crucial for Australian businesses looking to strengthen their cybersecurity. With Vanta's platform, companies can automate the execution, supervision, and reporting of their Essential Eight Level 2 compliance, helping them secure their operations and build customer trust.

The platform aims to cut down on the time and resources usually spent on manual compliance attainment. Vanta provides automation for security and compliance processes, enabling companies to meet both local and international standards, such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001, in a unified system.

"Doing our SOC 2 audits in Vanta has freed up so much of our time," shared Nathan Miller, Head of Information Security & Compliance at Dovetail. "Before, it took four senior people sixty hours of work to get it done – we've got that down to five hours."

The company has also expanded its team in the region since it established its Sydney office in November 2022, multiplying the local staff by five times. This includes roles in customer success and technical support to ensure that customers in Australia and New Zealand are well-supported.

Vanta now serves hundreds of customers across the region, helping them achieve compliance with assurance and ease. The company's ongoing growth strategy involves further expanding its regional presence, offering both its products and additional on-the-ground support to local customers.

"With Vanta by our side, we're confident in our ability to navigate the complexities of compliance while continuing to deliver exceptional value to our customers," stated Nick Nikolaiev, Co-founder of Tactiq. "As Tactiq continues to pursue expansion and innovation, Vanta remains an indispensable partner."
