You're invited to the DataCon webinar series: Scale-out multi-protocol storage & data management with Hedvig

FYI, this story is more than a year old

The global software-defined storage (SDS) market will grow 400% by 2021 – but what is driving this kind of unprecedented growth? Quite simply, the answer is data.

Data generation, usage, analytics and applications are exploding as multi-cloud adoption increases and organisations turn to software-defined storage deployments to manage this growth. That's the focus of an upcoming DataCon webinar by Commvault, which looks at software-defined storage and data management.

Data comes with a lot of challenges. There's massive data fragmentation caused by too many data silos; there's management complexity as organisations tread traditional and modern IT environments; and to top it off, some vendors will also keep organisations locked into their services with expensive upgrades. All the while, data keeps on growing – and there's no end in sight.

Commvault states that the advantages of data growth are clear if they are harnessed properly: Agility, scalability, and lower costs are but a few of those advantages. Organisations that combine data with software-defined storage can leverage a more predictable, resilient, and simple approach to infrastructure.

Software-defined storage decouples hardware and software, which means there's no need to purchase storage for specific purposes, there are no complex data silo management issues, and there's no frustrating vendor lock-in or expensive upgrades.

Commvault's Hedvig Distributed Storage Platform is earning its place in the market, and it's one of the only enterprise solutions that combines SDS with cloud, scale-out, and traditional ‘share all' capabilities.

On Thursday 18 June, Commvault's Jitender Arora and Walter Bevacqua will host a live webinar that will cover:

•    Hedvig - a 101 introduction
•    Hedvig versus traditional architectures
•    Hedvig Shared, HyperScale and Hyperconverged SDS architectures
•    Hedvig for data security and data protection

You'll also have time to seek advice from the expert hosts about any questions you may have.

Attendees will also get the chance to redeem an exclusive Commvault DevOps Guru LEGO minifig.

The Hedvig Distributed Storage Platform is built on industry-standard servers that distribute data simultaneously across multiple locations, meaning infrastructure is consolidated across environments such as hybrid and multi-cloud.

Hedvig can act as backup storage, private and hybrid cloud virtualisation storage, and container storage, resulting in a drop in storage provisioning time of up to 75% compared to legacy solutions.

Essentially, the platform is an enabler of the global ‘always on' data center, eliminating the boundaries between physical and cloud.
