FYI, this story is more than a year old

Velo Petrov has been named as the new regional sales director for Cohesity's Australia and New Zealand business.

The appointment comes as the data management firm looks to accelerate momentum in the across Australia and New Zealand, including within the Australian Federal Government market.

Based out of Canberra, Petrov will be responsible for further developing and maturing the Cohesity's market penetration among Australian federal government agencies, working in tandem with the firm's robust partner ecosystem. At the same time, he is tasked with bolstering the Cohesity's momentum among private and public sector enterprises in New Zealand.

"We are delighted that Velo has agreed to join Cohesity at this time. Many public sector agencies and enterprises in the region are eager to deploy software-defined solutions that simplify backup, make data much easier to manage, and empower organisations to derive value from data," says Steve Coad, Australia New Zealand managing director, Cohesity.

"Velo brings years of technology and public sector experience to the table and will play a key role, working with partners, in helping agencies and organisations embrace modern data management capabilities that are designed for hybrid cloud deployments," he explains.

A seasoned sales executive in the enterprise software industry, Petrov joins Cohesity with more than 10 years experience of working in the enterprise IT sector across business development, client management, consulting, and sales enablement programs.

Most recently, he worked at Exabeam as the company's southern regional sales director for Australia and New Zealand. During this time he successfully acquired new customers and supported successful deployments in key public and private sector vertical markets.

He previously worked as enterprise sales manager, public sector at AppDynamics and held several executive-level account director roles at Blue Coat Systems and subsequently at Symantec. He also worked for several years in account manager roles at both Fujitsu and Dimension Data.

Petrov adds, "I am looking forward to accelerating the data management transformation of government departments as well as private enterprises and it's exciting to be joining Cohesity, a fast-growing company that still has such a huge, untapped market opportunity ahead.

"IT executives today have the opportunity to meet their overall business productivity requirements by taking advantage of Cohesity's web-scale platform, spanning the data center, cloud, and the edge and empowering their teams to run apps on that platform while making it easier to back up and extract insights from data," he says.

"I look forward to building momentum and working with organisations to deliver upon their individual data requirements."
