Cohesity unveils Gaia, its AI-powered enterprise search assistant
Thu, 29th Feb 2024

A seminal advancement in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) from data security firm Cohesity has been announced. They are set to introduce Cohesity Gaia, the first AI-powered enterprise search assistant that harnesses retrieval augmented generation (RAG) AI and large language models (LLMs). Designed to harness the power of vast pools of enterprise data, this conversational search assistant promises to transform secondary data into knowledge, bolstering the operational efficiency and goals of businesses whilst maintaining data security and compliance. This ground-breaking tool will be made available from the 15th of March.

The innovative architecture of Cohesity Data Cloud executes data management and security with a unique mixture of performance, extensibility, and scale. Its latest venture, Cohesity Gaia, is set to take this value proposition a step further with the inclusion of a RAG AI solution on Cohesity's multicloud platform. Enterprises are presented with RAG AI conversational search experiences across cloud and hybrid environments, fostering a deeper comprehension of their data and enabling informed decision-making. Cohesity Gaia ensures immediate access to indexed data for incorporation into one's decision-making process without the need for backup data reconstruction. As a result, the Cohesity Data Cloud functions similarly to a data lake, granting businesses real-time access to their data.

Founder and CEO of Cohesity, Sanjay Poonen, explains, "Cohesity Gaia dramatically simplifies this process with our patent-pending approach using Retrieval Augmented Generation. Companies will be able to leverage generative AI to query their data in a virtually seamless way." The novelty of the Cohesity Gaia lies in its ability to holistically turn data into knowledge within mere seconds and minutes.

Ryan Reed, head of IT Products and Services at JSR Corporation, voiced his excitement about the application of Cohesity Gaia, saying, "We want to be able to use generative AI to quickly discover if work done at one location might apply to other projects. Cohesity Gaia allows us to query our rich store of research data and quickly find relevant work. It will also allow our researchers to use their native language to query the system. This could prove incredibly valuable in accelerating the rate of our research and discovery."

Cohesity Gaia is unique, not only retrieving data like a traditional search engine but also capable of answering complex questions. Greg Statton, office of the CTO – Data & AI at Cohesity, provided an illustrative example: "With Cohesity Gaia, you simply ask, 'Why have costs increased in the region?', and Cohesity Gaia will pull the relevant data from your stored data, analyse it, and return an answer to your question. It's that simple."

Russ Fellows, vice president at The Futurum Group Labs, added weight to the anticipation surrounding the release of Cohesity Gaia, stating that "Cohesity is the first data security and management vendor to bring the power of AI search to enterprises with the Cohesity Gaia AI search assistant." Fellows also highlighted the potential of Cohesity Gaia to combat often tedious and time-consuming tasks tied to data analysis: "Gaia enables companies to quickly leverage their existing stored data with the power of generative AI, without the complexity of creating an AI application themselves, or worrying about their data privacy and security."
