Digital Resilience unveils SecMatters, a co-designed SOC solution

Thu, 14th Aug 2025

Digital Resilience has launched SecMatters, a cybersecurity service that offers Security Operations Centre (SOC) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) functions developed in direct collaboration with clients.

This new approach marks a move away from traditional SOC and SIEM models, which typically rely on fixed roadmaps and service tiers. Instead, SecMatters is co-designed with clients, focusing on collective experience and specific risk environments to ensure each solution aligns with operational needs.

Service foundations

SecMatters is structured around collaboration rather than a standardised service delivery model. Co-Founder and Managing Partner Paul Dewsnap emphasised the significance of strategic partnerships in the company's philosophy.

"Strategic partnerships built on trust and mutual benefit are critical to our success and long-term sustainability - that's a core belief Digital Resilience was founded on," said Dewsnap. "SecMatters embodies that philosophy. We work side by side with clients to co-design and deliver their SOC and SIEM capabilities. That's why forward-thinking organisations are turning to partners like us instead of traditional service providers."

The approach is reflected in practical deployments of SecMatters among clients who have chosen to be partners in the development process.

Client collaboration

Organisations such as SANE Australia and Haven Home Safe were early adopters of SecMatters, influencing the design and roll-out of the service according to their specific needs.

Myra Nunez, Head of Information Technology at SANE, spoke about the importance of this tailored approach in supporting their mission.

"At SANE, safeguarding the people we support means protecting both their privacy and their digital safety," said Nunez. "SecMatters gives us confidence because it's developed in collaboration with the expertise of the SecMatters team. We're not just consuming a service; we're actively shaping how our SOC operates, ensuring it aligns with our mission to protect vulnerable communities in a digital age."

At Haven Home Safe, the priority was a SOC that would mature at the pace of their internal capability development. Paul Hulme, Head of Digital Services at Haven Home Safe, addressed this in his remarks.

"We didn't want a black box. We needed a SOC that aligned with our strategy and gave us visibility," said Hulme. "The SecMatters team were willing to build this with us, giving us flexibility by walking alongside us instead of delivering everything all at once. That level of collaboration is rare and made this partnership work."

Jason Osewald, Senior Technical Architect at Haven Home Safe, elaborated on the hands-on technical partnership experienced during the deployment.

"It felt less like onboarding a service and more like building a capability together," added Osewald.

Model and future direction

Phillip Souter, Director at SecMatters, highlighted the company's emphasis on responsive service models and explained the importance of flexibility in the client experience.

"Our collaborative, tailored rollout approach is part of our boutique, high-touch service model," said Souter. "We co-design capabilities with clients rather than delivering to a fixed plan. It's what makes SecMatters different."

SecMatters is characterised as a capability that adapts to clients' changing needs, threats, and compliance demands. The service model allows for gradual deployment and changes, rather than a fixed, product-driven implementation.

Souter also commented on the outlook for the co-design approach.

"Our co-design approach is already helping clients build security that fits their unique environment," said Souter. "Looking ahead, we see significant potential to make this collaborative model even more accessible and scalable, so more organisations can benefit from security operations truly shaped around their business."

He added the following perspective on the ongoing partnership with clients:

"We're not just filling seats in a SOC, we're working in collaboration with organisations to design, build, and continually improve security operations that strengthen their overall resilience and empower them to manage future risks with confidence."
