HPE expands networking options with VPC & on-premises

Wed, 9th Apr 2025

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced the expansion of HPE Aruba Networking Central with the introduction of new Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and on-premises deployment options.

The new options cater to the increasing requirement for data sovereignty, offering customers regional and local control of networks, along with built-in security, AI-powered optimisation, and enhanced network observability. These solutions address specific data security and regulatory requirements for businesses in the Asia Pacific and Japan regions.

Mark Ablett, Vice President, Asia Pacific & Japan, HPE Aruba Networking, stated, "As data sovereignty and security needs grow across the Asia Pacific and Japan region, HPE's expanded Aruba Networking Central provides flexible deployment options, including Virtual Private Cloud and on-premises solutions. This ensures local control while leveraging AI-powered optimisation, built-in security, and real-time network observability to help businesses in the region meet unique regulatory requirements and enhance network performance."

Phil Mottram, Executive Vice President and General Manager, HPE Aruba Networking, commented on the significance of these advancements, saying, "Organisations are increasingly prioritising data sovereignty, requiring regional and local presence for mission-critical IT solutions. With these innovations, HPE now uniquely addresses the most pressing enterprise challenges for corporate, nonprofit, and government entities with unprecedented network management deployment flexibility. Combined with our continued innovation across AI, security and connectivity, HPE Aruba Networking Central continues to offer the most powerful and versatile network management application on the market, helping organisations meet their security, privacy and control requirements."

The newly introduced deployment options include a VPC environment for clients seeking cloud agility with specific data security or regulatory obligations, and an on-premises alternative which can function independently of the cloud. This makes HPE the only vendor providing cloud-native AI operations across dedicated customer VPC, on-prem, public SaaS, or network as a service (NaaS).

HPE Aruba Networking Central On-Premises for Government offers deployment with FIPS 140-2 certified server hardware, addressing government security requirements. This solution facilitates emerging use cases necessitating greater control, such as AI data capture and inferencing.

The public cloud and VPC deployment options benefit from the global reach of HPE GreenLake cloud, enhancing local cloud presence across various geographies.

HPE has also enhanced its AI capabilities, introducing a continuous monitoring system through automated network AIOps. This system identifies and resolves network issues to maintain optimal performance and closes security gaps.

Network observability has been improved, allowing better monitoring of third-party devices, including detailed visibility into applications like Microsoft Teams, enhancing voice and video support.

Additionally, HPE has expanded its global presence, increasing points of presence (PoP) to ensure efficient data routing. This includes dedicated instances in various global regions, such as the U.S., Canada, the E.U., and Asia Pacific.

HPE reports management of over 5.2 million devices and servicing more than 2 billion network devices. This expansion supports HPE Aruba Networking Central's AI capabilities and predictive analytics, integrating multiple Generative AI Large Language Models.

The company has extended third-party observability with a new one-year subscription of the HPE Aruba Networking Central OpsRamp Extension license, widening the capability to monitor devices from vendors like Cisco and Juniper Networks.

Integration APIs further augment the network observability, offering AI-powered telemetry insights and serving as a significant "source of truth" for critical IT services.

HPE Aruba Networking Central, since its inception, has offered capabilities for network management across infrastructure operations. Its deployment is now available through an annual subscription with a two-tier licensing model.
