Pine Services Group acquires EBS to boost Australia reach
Fri, 25th Sep 2026 (Today)
Pine Services Group has acquired Evolution Business Systems, increasing its presence in Australia.
Evolution Business Systems, known as EBS, is a Microsoft business applications specialist based in Heidelberg, Victoria. Founded 25 years ago, it will continue to trade under its existing name following the transaction.
EBS will keep operating independently under Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Martin and its current leadership team. Employees, day-to-day operations and customer relationships will remain unchanged.
Pine said it would provide EBS with additional resources, strategic support and access to its international ERP community. The transaction also expands Pine's Microsoft-related services across its broader portfolio of ERP and technology services businesses.
EBS has spent two decades as a Microsoft solutions partner. Its work includes Business Central implementation, optimisation and ongoing support, along with related products such as EBS-Plus, Jet Reports, Continia Document Capture, Continia Expense Management and the Eftsure Marketplace extension.
The company serves customers across small and medium-sized businesses, not-for-profit organisations, government agencies, healthcare providers, educational institutions and associations. It has also received industry recognition, including four Jet Reports APAC Partner of the Year awards since 2021 and the Jet Reports APAC Most Innovative Partner award in 2022.
Australian market
The acquisition comes as technology suppliers and customers in Australia seek to turn interest in artificial intelligence into operational gains. Microsoft's 2026 Work Trend Index found that 63% of Australian AI users were producing work they could not have produced a year earlier, while 28% said their organisation was clearly aligned on AI strategy and policies.
For Pine, the purchase adds a local specialist with an established customer base at a time when software partners are under pressure to help organisations link software spending to measurable business outcomes. The group is part of Evergreen, which owns and backs software and technology services companies.
Chief Financial Officer Joel Johnson said EBS's operating history and customer relationships were central to the deal.
"EBS brings two and a half decades of customer trust, true Microsoft depth, and a leadership team we are proud to work alongside. What made them the right fit is how that team has grown the business: strong customer relationships, technical credibility, and clear market-centered values. The consistency of EBS' growth tells you everything about how a business is run. Our job at Pine is to give them the resources to keep executing," Johnson said.
Independent model
The acquisition follows Pine's broader model of buying service providers and allowing them to operate with a high degree of autonomy. In EBS's case, that means preserving the brand, leadership and existing service structure rather than folding the company into a wider operating unit.
That approach reflects a common pattern in software and IT services consolidation, where buyers seek scale, talent and sector expertise without disrupting customer-facing teams. In markets such as ERP and business applications, acquirers often view continuity as essential because client relationships tend to be long-term and closely tied to implementation knowledge.
Martin said the transaction was designed to preserve that continuity while giving the company access to a larger network.
"Over the past 25 years, we have built EBS on long-term relationships, technical excellence and a genuine commitment to helping our customers succeed. In Pine, we have found a long-term, values-driven partner that respects what makes EBS successful and supports our continued independence. This gives us access to additional resources, expertise and a broader network, while allowing our team to remain focused on delivering the personalized service and trusted advice our customers value. We are proud of what we have built and excited to begin this next chapter with Pine's added resources, insights and support," Martin said.
EBS said its EPIC values - Ethics, Passion, Innovation and Community - would remain in place after the acquisition.
