Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 now compatible with Zoom

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Sennheiser's TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphone, commonly used in conference and meeting rooms, is now compatible with the popular Zoom videoconferencing and meeting platform, Zoom Meetings.

According to Sennheiser, Zoom's video communication tool has become an ‘indispensable' resource for businesses digitally transforming their workplaces, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and remote working.

Sennheiser Business Communication global business development manager Charlie Jones says, “Collaboration tools must enable people to connect seamlessly and with confidence.”

Sennheiser's TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphone uses adaptive beamforming to automatically pick up the person speaking in a conference room, no matter where he or she is located within the space. The microphone allows for freedom of movement, flexible use of conference rooms and outstanding audio quality, according to Sennheiser.

Furthermore, the solution is not just suited for business conferencing. Sennheiser states that TeamConnect Ceiling 2 is increasingly employed in higher education environments, where it facilitates distance learning, especially with seminars which usually require a greater freedom of movement and feature several speakers.

The TeamConnect Ceiling  2 enables touchless audio in classrooms to more easily maintain social distancing best practices while ensuring all students experience clear and discernable lectures. This is relevant because hygiene is top-of-mind for many institutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company states.

“We are very excited to announce that this solution is now officially compatible with Zoom. The importance of video conferencing and webinar solutions has increased massively during the coronavirus crisis, and so has the significance of touchless microphone systems like TeamConnect Ceiling 2,” says Jones.

Sennheiser business communication portfolio manager Jens Warner adds that the solution is ideally suited for medium to large meeting rooms that can accommodate 14-16 participants.

“Of course, a reduced number of participants is possible without any disadvantages if smart distancing measures are applied,” says Warner.

Additionally, Zoom Meetings compatibility also applies to the Bose ES1 Ceiling Audio Solution, a unified offering that includes the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphone, the Bose ControlSpace EX-440C conferencing DSP, the Bose EdgeMax EM180 in-ceiling loudspeaker, and the Bose PowerSpace P2600A amplifier.

Bose Work director and global head Martin Bodley adds, “We're extremely proud to be part of a reliable, in-ceiling audio solution that is Zoom compatible.”

“The Bose ES1 brings together a selection of innovative products that deliver the perfect combination of transparent technology to support how and where people work – so you can focus on what's important.

Sennheiser is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. In 2018, the Sennheiser Group generated turnover totalling €710.7 million (NZ$1.2 billion).
