Sinch has partnered with Coderra on conversational messaging for businesses in Australia.

The agreement combines Coderra's artificial intelligence software with Sinch's customer communications platform and conversational application programming interface. The aim is to help retailers and other businesses build automated customer interactions across multiple digital channels.

The partnership is part of Sinch's broader push into artificial intelligence in customer communications. The company provides messaging, email and voice services to businesses and says it handles more than 900 billion customer interactions each year for more than 200,000 customers worldwide.

Under the arrangement, Australian businesses will be able to build AI agents for conversational messaging using Coderra's platform and deploy them through Sinch's network. The system is designed to support instant responses, automated service and ongoing conversation management across the channels customers already use.

Australia focus

Australia is the partnership's initial commercial focus. Retail customer service is a key target, with both groups citing demand for more tailored and immediate digital engagement between brands and consumers.

Conversational messaging is a growing area of competition among communications software groups as businesses look for ways to shift customer service and sales activity into chat-based channels. AI tools are increasingly being used to answer routine questions, guide product discovery and manage large volumes of inbound enquiries without relying solely on human agents.

For Sinch, the tie-up adds a specialist AI layer to a business built around global communications infrastructure and APIs. The Stockholm-headquartered group reported net sales of USD $3 billion in 2025 and employs more than 4,000 staff across more than 60 countries.

Damien Brennan, Strategic AI and Emerging Tech Partnership Manager at Sinch APAC, said the deal marked an important step in the company's AI strategy.

"This partnership represents a significant step forward in our AI strategy and our commitment to providing Australian businesses with the most advanced tools for customer engagement," Brennan said.

He said Sinch sees the combination of messaging infrastructure and specialist AI software as central to its next stage of development in customer communications.

"By combining our APIs and global network with the specialized AI platform of Coderra, we are not just enhancing our service offering; we are defining the future of intelligent, multichannel communication," Brennan said.

Partner roles

Coderra is expected to provide the technology used to create the AI agents, while Sinch will provide the delivery layer through which those agents interact with customers. That structure reflects a common market pattern, with communications providers pairing their distribution networks with external AI developers to broaden their product range without building every component in-house.

The companies did not disclose financial terms for the partnership. They also did not set out customer targets or revenue expectations for the Australian launch.

Dr Koliya Wedanage, Co-Founder and CTO of Coderra, said the companies' products were complementary.

"Partnering with Sinch is a natural fit. Their extensive network and powerful API are the perfect delivery engine for the sophisticated AI agents our platform creates. Together, we will enable businesses to build next-generation conversational experiences for their customers," Wedanage said.

Sinch is listed in Stockholm and has been profitable since its founding in 2008.
