Snowflake introduces AI Data Cloud tailored for travel industry

Thu, 26th Sep 2024

Snowflake has announced the launch of its new AI Data Cloud specifically designed for the travel and hospitality industry. The platform aims to integrate Snowflake's data and AI capabilities with tailored solutions for the sector, enabling airlines, hotels, cruise lines, and travel technology providers to harness data and artificial intelligence for improved operations and enhanced customer experiences.

The travel and hospitality industry is currently transitioning from recovery to stable growth, presenting both challenges and opportunities for businesses. Snowflake is offering a unified platform designed to streamline AI and machine learning (ML) development, ensure security and governance, and democratise data access. The platform's data collaboration capabilities and scalability are intended to help organisations realise the full potential of their data.

The AI Data Cloud for Travel and Hospitality addresses various industry needs, including dynamic pricing, sustainability tracking, developer efficiencies, reputation management, and performance advertising. The goal is to streamline operations and unlock new business value for organisations within the sector.

Examples of outcomes that can be optimised with Snowflake's new platform include hyper-personalised marketing, improved customer experience, modernised loyalty and co-branded experiences, reliable and efficient operations, and maximised revenue management. These features aim to drive profitability and customer retention through optimised processes and data-driven decision-making.

Snowflake's partner ecosystem further supports seamless data enrichment through the Snowflake Marketplace. This allows businesses to integrate and analyse third-party data sources such as weather patterns, economic indicators, and global events alongside their own data. The integration aims to enable more comprehensive and informed decision-making in an industry where external factors can significantly impact operations and customer behaviour.

"The travel and hospitality industry is at a pivotal moment, with AI and data-driven insights becoming critical for success," remarked Whitnee Hawthorne, Global Head of Travel & Hospitality at Snowflake. "Our AI Data Cloud for Travel and Hospitality provides the tools and capabilities needed to not only keep pace with evolving customer expectations but also to drive innovation and operational excellence in this dynamic and competitive sector."

Several large travel and hospitality companies are already utilising Snowflake's AI Data Cloud for Travel & Hospitality to democratise data access and enhance collaboration. Raymond Boyle, Vice President of Data Analytics and Strategic Insights at Hyatt, highlighted the improvements in data-driven decision-making and automation facilitated by Snowflake. "From guest preferences to functional decision management, Snowflake empowers us to advance care and further enhance the guest experience. Snowflake provides an important foundation for our work to redefine hospitality in the digital age," stated Boyle.

Rahul Todkar, Head of Data and AI at Tripadvisor, explained the importance of Snowflake in their data strategy. "Snowflake unifies our enterprise analytics, marketing, and customer insights, providing the data foundation for our AI initiatives. It has revolutionised how we collaborate with other brands in the ecosystem, allowing secure data sharing that benefits both our business and the broader travel industry," said Todkar.

Snowflake's new offering is expected to help businesses within the travel and hospitality sector navigate the evolving landscape of customer expectations and operations by leveraging advanced data analytics and AI technologies.
