Data Cloud provider, Snowflake, and Mistral AI, an European provider of AI solutions, have announced a multi-year partnership aimed at democratising AI by giving users the ability to create sophisticated applications globally. The collaboration brings Mistral AI's superior language models to Snowflake's Data Cloud customers.

The partnership highlights Snowflake's commitment to AI innovation, an initiative backed by its involvement in AI Alliance, which promotes open, safe, and responsible AI practices. The collaboration involves an investment in Mistral's Series A by Snowflake Ventures and spans several years.

The global partnership between Snowflake and Mistral AI aims to allow enterprises smooth access to large language models (LLMs) while safeguarding security, privacy, and governance of their most important asset–their data. This partnership follows the unveiling of Snowflake Cortex LLM Functions to the public and now makes it possible for users to easily and quickly build generative AI applications.

Through the newly established partnership, Snowflake customers gain access to Mistral AI's newest and most powerful LLM, Mistral Large, a model that has unique reasoning capacities and is proficient in code and mathematics in addition to fluency in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Furthermore, Snowflake clients can take advantage of Mixtral 8x7B, Mistral AI's open source model that outpaces OpenAI's GPT3.5 in speed and quality on most benchmarks.
