Snowflake & NVIDIA boost AI platform to transform businesses
Wed, 20th Mar 2024

Data Cloud Company Snowflake has strengthened its partnership with NVIDIA to further empower enterprise customers with an AI platform, according to an announcement made at the NVIDIA GTC conference. By blending Snowflake's secure data foundation with NVIDIA's full-stack accelerated platform, the collaboration is hoped to create a robust solution that unlocks and escalates AI productivity, potentially fuelling business transformations across various industries.

Sridhar Ramaswamy, CEO of the Data Cloud Company, emphasised the crucial role of data in fueling AI advancements: "Data is the fuel for AI, making it essential to establishing an effective AI strategy. Our partnership with NVIDIA delivers a secure, scalable and easy-to-use platform for trusted enterprise data. And we take the complexity out of AI, empowering users of all types, regardless of their technical expertise, to quickly and easily realise the benefits of AI."

Moreover, Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, reinforced the belief that enterprise data forms the bedrock for custom AI applications capable of generating intelligence and revealing fresh insights. "Bringing NVIDIA accelerated computing and software to Snowflake's data platform can turbocharge enterprise AI adoption by helping customers build, deploy and manage secure generative AI applications," said Huang.

The expanded collaboration builds upon the previously announced NVIDIA NeMo integration. Soon, Snowflake customers will be able to use the NVIDIA NeMo Retriever directly on their proprietary data in the Data Cloud. This integration also ensures that data security, privacy, and governance are smoothly maintained through Snowflake's built-in capabilities.

By incorporating the NVIDIA NeMo Retriever, chatbot applications' performance and scalability will be enhanced, accelerating value for over 400 enterprises developing AI applications with Snowflake Cortex, Snowflake's fully managed large language model (LLM) and vector search service.

The expanded collaboration will include the availability of NVIDIA TensorRT software to deliver low latency and high throughput for deep learning inference applications. This will contribute to amplifying LLM-based search capabilities.

NVIDIA accelerated computing powers several of Snowflake's AI products, including Snowflake Cortex LLM Functions, Snowflake Copilot, and Document AI. Snowflake Copilot, the LLM-powered assistant, aids in everyday Snowflake coding tasks through generative AI, which facilitates natural language inquiries, simplifies SQL query writing against relevant data sets, refines queries, and reduces insights.

Document AI assists enterprises in leveraging LLMs to easily extract content like invoice amounts or contractual terms from documents and fine-tune results using a visual interface and natural language. Automated document processing reduces the probability of manual errors and increases efficiencies.

This integration is a step towards empowering users with little technical expertise in the field of AI, making it easier for them to harness its benefits and capabilities. As AI continues to evolve, collaborations like this could serve as a stepping stone for further development and adoption of AI technology.
