Thomax appoints Chris Alderson to lead transport push

Thomax has appointed former Kuehne + Nagel executive Chris Alderson as General Manager, Transport Solutions, as the Australian software provider expands its transport management business in ANZ and overseas.
Alderson joins the warehouse and transport management software company from Kuehne + Nagel, where he served as Road Logistics Director. He has also held senior roles at MCM Logistics and Australia Post, where he oversaw the eCommerce fulfilment business during a period of national expansion.
In the new role, he will focus on growing Thomax's transport management system, or TMS, offering, working with the development team to broaden the product's reach and adapt it to different customer requirements.
Global expansion
Based in Australia, Thomax has wholly owned subsidiaries in New Zealand, Singapore, the UK, Canada and the US. Its software is used by logistics teams to manage fulfilment, inventory and delivery, and its customers include JD Sports, Starbucks and Burger King.
The appointment reflects a broader push to strengthen Thomax's position in transport and warehouse management software as customers seek alternatives to older systems. The company also plans to build on its existing work linking transport software with robotics and automation systems in Australia as it prepares the product for growth in the UK and US.
Alderson brings more than a decade of logistics and transport experience to the role. At MCM Logistics, he led product and innovation strategy, while at Australia Post he managed fulfilment operations as online retail volumes grew across the country.
Senior experience
His arrival adds senior operational experience at a time when software suppliers serving logistics operators are under pressure to respond to changing fulfilment, delivery and inventory demands. Transport management platforms are used to plan and oversee freight movements, and demand has grown as operators look for systems that can be adapted to different networks and workflows.
Commenting on the appointment, Alderson pointed to the need for transport software that can keep pace with changing customer requirements.

Product growth

Alderson will help prepare Thomax's TMS product for wider use in the UK and US while broadening functionality for a larger customer base.
