Zeller unveils Terminal 2, revolutionising Australia's POS sector

Mon, 26th Aug 2024

Australia's fintech landscape witnesses a significant milestone with the introduction of the Zeller Terminal 2, unveiled by Zeller. This next-generation all-in-one payments and point-of-sale (POS) solution has been designed and engineered entirely in Australia. It promises an array of innovative features tailored to meet the needs of contemporary businesses, regardless of their size.

The Zeller Terminal 2 provides a powerful combination of a premium design and extensive customisation options at a competitive price point. This new offering aims to replace outdated hardware and set a fresh benchmark in payments and POS technology. Accompanying this terminal is the Zeller POS Lite, a free, customisable POS app. Built directly into the terminal, it allows businesses to manage inventory and track sales without the need for additional costly hardware or complex agreements with multiple providers.

Among the key highlights of Zeller Terminal 2 is its integration with more than 600 third-party POS platforms, which offers businesses extensive flexibility and operational ease. The device also prioritises secure payment methods—such as EMV chip cards, contactless cards, and mobile wallets—by eliminating the traditional magstripe card reader. This move aims to enhance security and reduce the risk of credit card fraud, an issue that impacts over 1.8 million Australians annually, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

In a bid to promote sustainability, the Zeller Terminal 2 discourages the use of traditional paper receipts. Instead, it supports email, SMS, and QR code receipts, thereby reducing environmental impact. Its hardware design features Australia's largest terminal screen—a 6.5-inch full-colour HD display with options for light and dark modes—catering to diverse retail and restaurant environments.

Co-founder and CEO of Zeller, Ben Pfisterer, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, stating, "Zeller is proud to be a global leader in redefining the next generation in payments and point of sale, from right here in Australia. Zeller Terminal 2 is the most advanced, affordable, all-in-one payments and POS solution anywhere in the world. While other banks and providers are raising their fees, Zeller is dedicated to delivering premium products at affordable prices. We're helping Australian business owners to streamline their operations, deliver a better customer experience, and ultimately survive and thrive."

Pfisterer highlighted that the launch reflects another significant milestone for Zeller, particularly given the fintech's focus on Australian businesses. "Designed and engineered by our team here in Melbourne, the launch of Zeller Terminal 2 marks another significant milestone for Zeller. In just over three years, we've delivered more financial services, payments, and POS innovation into a single platform, and are excited to introduce next-generation solutions to support our customers across Australia and see a positive impact on their businesses," he added.

Zeller customer and co-founder of Kings Domain Barber Shops in Melbourne, Aaron Chan, shared his satisfaction with the new device, noting its aesthetic compatibility and cost-effectiveness. "We love that we can make the new Zeller Terminal our own," he said. "Style and design are important to our brand at Kings Domain, so the fact that the terminal complements our aesthetic, looks sleek, and is customisable, means it suits our business perfectly. Plus, being able to accept all cards—including AMEX—at one low flat fee is a huge win."

The Zeller Terminal 2, offered at a retail price of AUD $199, boasts several advanced features including split payments, automated tipping prompts, and a variety of connectivity options like Wi-Fi, 4G SIM card, and Ethernet. The terminal's battery is designed for long-lasting use, ensuring uninterrupted service.

Overall, the introduction of the Zeller Terminal 2 marks a significant advancement in the payments and POS solutions available to Australian businesses, promising to streamline business operations and enhance customer experience through innovative and cost-effective technology.
