Equinix names Jarrod Nink as Managing Director for Australia

Equinix has appointed Jarrod Nink as Managing Director for Australia. He joins from Vocus.
Based in Sydney, Nink will lead Equinix's Australian business, overseeing strategy, customer growth and operations. He will report to Cyrus Adaggra, President, Asia-Pacific, as Equinix reshapes its leadership in a market where demand for data centre capacity and cloud connectivity is rising.
The appointment puts a long-serving telecoms and infrastructure executive in charge of one of Equinix's larger national businesses in the region. Australia is one of the fastest-growing digital infrastructure markets in the company's portfolio.
Nink has more than 25 years of experience across telecommunications, technology and digital infrastructure, including leadership roles spanning data centres, cable landing stations, terrestrial fibre networks and subsea cable systems.
Most recently, he served as Interim Chief Executive, Enterprise, Government, Wholesale & Infrastructure at Vocus Group. Earlier at Vocus, he was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive, Wholesale & International.
Before joining Vocus in 2018, he was Chief Executive Officer of Hue in the UK. He also held several executive positions during a nine-year stint at Vodafone Australia.
The move comes as operators and investors direct more capital into Australian digital infrastructure, driven in part by demand from artificial intelligence workloads and data-heavy applications. Local customers are also increasing their use of data centre space and connections to cloud services and networks.
Australia is an important market for Equinix because it hosts a broad mix of enterprise customers, cloud providers, carriers and technology firms. The company operates 18 data centres across six metropolitan markets in the country.
Leadership change
Nink replaces Guy Danskine, who has moved to the United States to take up the role of Managing Director, West Americas, at Equinix. The change gives the group a new local head as competition for digital infrastructure customers intensifies.
Adaggra said the appointment reflects market demand and the company's plans in Australia.

Equinix's Australian operations are part of a broader Asia-Pacific business that has been expanding to meet demand from companies seeking to place computing infrastructure closer to users, networks and cloud platforms. In Australia, that trend has been reinforced by the growth of data-intensive applications and the need for companies to link systems across multiple providers.
Nink said the timing of the move reflects a broader shift in the market.

His appointment also continues a pattern of senior leadership hires from the telecoms sector into the data centre market, where operators increasingly need executives with experience across networks, enterprise sales and infrastructure operations. That overlap has become more important as customers seek bundled access to colocation, interconnection and cloud on-ramps in the same facilities.
Nink holds a master's degree in Laws & Management from the Australian Graduate School of Management and the University of New South Wales. He also has a combined bachelor's degree in Commerce and Law from the University of Sydney.
