bolttech names new Chief Executive Officers for regions

bolttech has appointed Emma Butler as Chief Executive Officer for Asia-Pacific and Philip Weiner as Chief Executive Officer for North America.

The changes take effect immediately and affect two of the insurer technology group's regional businesses.

Butler succeeds Weiner in the Asia-Pacific role and also joins bolttech's Group Executive Committee. Weiner, a founding member of the executive team, will lead the North American business.

His appointment follows Jon Walheim's departure from the North America role. Walheim will support the handover and remain as an adviser to Group Chief Executive Officer Rob Schimek.

The reshuffle places two long-serving executives in regional chief executive roles as bolttech adjusts its leadership structure across established markets. It serves customers in 39 markets across Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.

Butler has more than 20 years of experience across insurance, banking and retail in Asia and Europe. Most recently, she was Regional General Manager for Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.

Before joining bolttech, Butler was part of AmTrust Mobile Solutions Asia, which was later acquired and integrated into the group. That background gives her deep institutional knowledge of the business and experience overseeing operations across multiple markets.

Weiner has been with bolttech since its inception and has held several senior roles across the group, including Group Chief Data Officer, Chief Commercial Officer for Asia & Europe and, most recently, Chief Executive Officer for Asia-Pacific.

An actuary by training, Weiner has more than two decades of insurance experience. Before joining bolttech, he held senior roles at FWD Insurance and Manulife, covering product development, pricing and commercial strategy.

Regional shift

The appointments come as bolttech seeks management continuity across two regions with different market dynamics. Asia-Pacific has been a key area of expansion for digital insurance distribution, while North America remains a large and competitive market for insurance technology groups.

Insurtech companies have faced pressure in recent years to deliver steadier performance, clearer paths to profitability and stronger execution in core markets. Leadership changes have become a common way to tighten regional oversight while keeping experienced executives within the business.

For bolttech, promoting Butler and moving Weiner to North America keeps both roles in the hands of executives already familiar with the company's operating model and partner relationships. Butler's promotion also expands her remit from Southeast Asia to the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Walheim's move into an advisory role means the North American handover will continue under the oversight of the Group Chief Executive Officer as Weiner settles into the post.
