Octave names Veris geospatial partner in Australia

Octave has appointed Veris as its authorised geospatial distributor and support partner in Australia and New Zealand, expanding a longstanding relationship between the companies.

Under the agreement, Veris will become Octave's primary local channel partner for geospatial software in both markets. It will handle customer engagement, first-line support, consulting, training and implementation services for products including Octave GeoMedia, Octave Alto, Octave Imagine and Octave Alto Data Management.

The deal strengthens Octave's local partner presence in Australia and New Zealand following its separation from Hexagon and launch as an independent listed company. For Veris, it expands an existing services relationship into software distribution and support.

The partnership is aimed at customers in sectors including government, defence, utilities, transport and major commercial organisations that use geospatial and imagery software in operational settings. Veris already works across government, mining, energy, defence, utilities, property and transportation in the region.

Local support has become a central part of software vendors' regional strategies as public sector and infrastructure clients seek closer access to implementation expertise and ongoing service. In Australia and New Zealand, that often means relying on domestic partners that understand procurement settings, compliance requirements and industry-specific operating conditions.

He said Veris would bring regional familiarity alongside access to Octave's broader geospatial software portfolio.

"Through our partnership, customers in Australia and New Zealand gain trusted local expertise from Veris, attuned to regional regulations, industry challenges and operational needs, while continuing to leverage Octave's global leadership in geospatial and imagery innovation," Leaver said.

Regional strategy

The appointment comes as Octave reshapes its channel and customer model following its spin-off from Hexagon. The company now operates as a standalone business focused on software used to design, build, operate and protect infrastructure and facilities.

That shift has increased the emphasis on direct customer relationships and partner networks in regional markets. In Australia and New Zealand, where geospatial software is widely used across defence, utilities, transport planning and land management, support structures can play a significant role in customer retention and expansion.

Christian Gianatti, Senior Vice President for APAC at Octave, said Veris had a strong market position in the region.

"Veris has built an outstanding reputation for delivering trusted geospatial consulting, advisory and project services across the region," Gianatti said.

He said the agreement reflected Octave's priorities as a newly independent company.

"As a newly independent company, we are focused on strengthening the customer experience through partners who understand local market requirements and can help organizations realize greater value from their geospatial investments. Veris is exceptionally well positioned to support that mission," Gianatti said.

Expanded remit

For Veris, the deal extends its involvement across more of the software lifecycle. Instead of focusing mainly on services, the company will now also manage distribution, support, training and consulting for Octave's geospatial products in the local market.

The arrangement also reflects the installed base already in place. Veris said a number of government, infrastructure and defence customers in the region already use Octave software, providing a foundation for broader implementation and systems integration work.

Michael Shirley, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Veris, said the agreement formalised and expanded a long-running relationship.

"This agreement strengthens Veris' role across the geospatial software lifecycle and builds on our longstanding relationship with Hexagon and now Octave," Shirley said.

He said the existing customer base created scope for a broader services role.

"With an established base of government, infrastructure and defence customers already using Octave's geospatial software, the arrangement creates a clear pathway to expand the delivery of implementation, systems integration and advisory services over time," Shirley said.

Octave employs about 7,200 people across 45 countries, and the partnership underscores the importance of Australia and New Zealand to its geospatial business as it develops its post-spin-off operating model.
